Your development decision
Read complete composition and distinguish a fibre declaration from touch, test evidence and brand label decisions.
Request the complete declaration
Record full fibre names and percentages that account for the cloth composition. Ask for the source and reference concerned. A wool percentage alone leaves the other constituents unclear and cannot describe the whole blend.
State mandatory and flexible fields
A brand may have a fixed wool target or an acceptable range. List prohibited or required fibres if applicable. Ask for alternatives within that scope rather than calling every changed blend an equivalent substitute.
Keep evidence types separate
Composition information answers a content question. Handling answers a touch question. A test report answers a defined property question. One should not be used to imply the others have been confirmed.
Compare the actual construction
Identical percentages can accompany different yarn, weave and finish. Review physical samples and equivalent garment sections. Keep weight, width and appearance with composition so a difference is interpreted in context.
Plan the brand declaration
Use the actual reference information and appropriate brand review for the destination’s labelling requirements. The educational page does not issue a ready-made compliant label. Retain document source and revision with the final garment specification.
Ask a focused supplier question
Send Fred the garment, composition target, allowed alternatives and required evidence. Request confirmed candidate specifications before choosing a trial. Keep a desired blend labelled as a requirement until a reference is identified.
A practical development example
A buyer requests a wool percentage but leaves the rest of the composition unspecified. List allowed or required remaining fibres and ask for the full candidate declaration. Review touch and garment response separately. A matching percentage does not by itself establish an equivalent cloth or a completed label decision.
