Care Planning for Wool Flannel Garments

Agree the intended care route for the complete garment and review dimensions, surface and component interaction before labelling.

Your development decision

Agree the intended care route for the complete garment and review dimensions, surface and component interaction before labelling.

Start with the whole garment

Shell cloth, lining, support, trims and closures all belong in care planning. Request reference-specific input from each relevant source. A fibre name alone cannot establish the correct process for the finished system.

Name the processes to investigate

Cleaning, drying and ironing or pressing are separate questions. State the proposed route and trial conditions with the garment technical team. Do not apply a universal washing instruction to all wool flannel.

Do not assume machine washability

Ask for specific material and garment evidence where washing is intended. Confirm the actual finish and components. A photograph, wool percentage or casual care phrase is insufficient to approve machine washing.

Review the sample after care

Measure the same locations and compare colour, surface, touch, seams and lining interaction. Retain before and after photographs and actual conditions. A dimensional result alone does not settle every appearance question.

Review the intended market label

The brand should verify the applicable destination requirements and appropriate care symbols for its final garment. Keep the supporting advice and trial record with that decision. This worksheet organises inputs; it does not issue a legal label.

Bind care to the approved version

Record the final shell and component references, trial process and label revision. If a lining, finish or closure changes, review affected care evidence. Ask Fred for current reference-specific information and keep open questions visible.

A practical development example

A jacket shell has care advice, but the support and lining are not yet chosen. Retain the shell advice as an input and keep the finished-garment decision open. Trial the final component system and have the brand review the appropriate label before treating the project as complete.

Before the next sample round

  • Shell and all component references
  • Cleaning, drying and ironing route
  • Dimensions and appearance after trial
  • Brand-reviewed final label version
  • Record the reviewer, date and next action
