Your development decision
Observe knees and seat through a defined wear and rest sequence, keeping fit, lining, seams and surface separate.
Set the garment context
Record fit, ease, pattern version and lining. Knee and seat appearance depends on the garment system and wearer activity. A loose cloth pull cannot replace a trial of the intended trouser construction.
Record the starting view
Photograph the same areas in standing and seated positions under consistent light. Label the cloth and garment sample. Note any initial construction or fitting differences so later observations have a clear baseline.
Agree activity and rest
Use a repeatable sequence reflecting normal wear and define when the after-view is taken. Record sitting, walking and rest duration as trial conditions. Compare candidates with the same sequence where practical.
Separate the observed changes
Shape, surface rubbing, seam appearance and contact sensations are different findings. Describe their location and extent in plain terms. Avoid converting one subjective observation into a numerical stretch or abrasion result.
Review recovery and support
Observe the appearance after the agreed rest period and note the lining used. Discuss whether fit, pattern, support or cloth needs further review. A different lining or ease may require another trial before the original result is reused.
Agree the next evidence
Define acceptable appearance with the technical teams and request a specified test if needed. Record reviewer and decision scope. Keep a trial judgement separate from lab certification and bulk approval.
A practical development example
A trouser trial shows a changed knee appearance after sitting. Record fit, lining, activity and the after-view time, then review it again after the agreed rest period. Discuss the actual shape change separately from rubbing and seam appearance. Decide what further evidence the team needs before changing the cloth.
