Shade Continuity Across Flannel Fabric Lots

Manage shade by light, direction, roll and lot identity, especially for suits and coordinated deliveries.

Your development decision

Manage shade by light, direction, roll and lot identity, especially for suits and coordinated deliveries.

Agree the viewing basis

Light, angle and surface direction affect perceived shade. Compare candidate and standard side by side under the agreed conditions. Record the basis so reviews from different teams can be understood.

Separate continuity checks

Within-roll, between-roll and between-lot checks have different scopes. Ask how the production proposal will be reviewed and labelled. A single cutting cannot establish shade continuity across an unreviewed shipment.

Plan coordinated cutting

For suits or sets, discuss lot allocation and which pieces should be cut together. Keep direction and shade information on the cutting documents. Consider recuts and replacement panels before treating the allocation as complete.

Review mixed-colour surfaces

Heather or mixed-fibre appearances may need a physical surface reference as well as a colour name. Keep the sample orientation and viewing method consistent. Record the visible difference in context rather than relying only on a screen image.

Retain standards and versions

Label approved shade cuttings and relevant lot references. Record the date and finish version. A later replenishment needs its own confirmation against the retained standard; do not promise an indefinite exact match.

Resolve a discrepancy clearly

Identify affected roll or lot and retain comparison evidence. Pause the relevant approval while the supplier and buyer review it. Record the accepted adjustment or revised standard so the next delivery uses the same decision.

A practical development example

A suit jacket and trousers are scheduled in separate cutting rounds. Ask how lots will be allocated and compare relevant material against the retained standard under the same light and direction. Record the allocation and recut plan rather than relying on the same colour name to guarantee a match.

Before the next sample round

  • Agreed light and surface direction
  • Within-roll and between-roll scope
  • Lot allocation for coordinated pieces
  • Retained standard and replenishment review
  • Record the reviewer, date and next action
