Your development decision
Review jacket and trousers as one suit programme, while testing the construction and wear demands of each piece.
Describe the complete set
Specify jacket structure, trouser fit, any waistcoat and the intended wearing situation. Note whether pieces will be sold together or separately. A matching suit needs a coordinated colour and surface review as well as separate making trials.
Balance structure with movement
A jacket front may use canvas or interlining while trousers need their own ease and lining. Compare hanging panels and sewn sections with those materials. A cloth that looks satisfactory in a supported front still needs review at the knees and seat.
Keep shade and direction consistent
Record the proposed lot, shade reference and cutting direction for the complete set. View jacket and trouser sections together in agreed lighting. Ask about lot allocation, recuts and any planned separate deliveries before treating colour matching as settled.
Trial lapels, pockets and trouser details
Include a lapel edge, pocket construction, waistband and hem where practical. The maker should establish the pressing process on trial cloth. Compare surface appearance at supported and unsupported areas and record changes separately for each garment.
Review the wearer’s experience
Use the intended underlayers and normal movements. Record sitting, walking and arm movement, with contact at the neck, waist and legs. Keep the trial conditions and rest period consistent between candidates rather than relying on isolated photographs.
Approve the scope explicitly
Record which sample version, colour, composition and construction were reviewed. An approved jacket silhouette does not approve trouser wear or the entire care system. List open test and supply questions and use one coordinated brief for Fred and the garment team.
Working review record
Scroll the table horizontally on small screens.
| Review point | What to record | Next decision |
|---|---|---|
| Design | Pattern version, shape and wearing use | Confirm the trial objective |
| Making | Support, lining, seam and pressing conditions | Review representative sections |
| Wearing | Contact areas, activity and rest period | Record actual observations |
| Care | Agreed process and before/after measurements | Approve only the reviewed scope |
Before the next sample round
- Identify cloth and garment sample versions
- Record construction and lining
- Photograph the same areas before and after
- Keep missing evidence as not checked
- List open questions for Fred
